Gotham: The Phantom Menace
Gotham could end up being a decent show.
I have my doubts.
Smallville got around a Superman who wasn’t for years but it didn’t take itself so seriously and honestly CW audiences are a lot more forgiving than most. I fell out of love with that show after Clark lost his powers for the tenth time.
I guess you have to ask yourself how long you think you can watch Jim Gordon fail at his job? Because that’s what this show is ultimately about.
As imperfect as it may be, I think Arrow has come closest to getting it right and I’m slightly optimistic about the Flash series coming up. Again both of these shows handle themselves as more soap-operatic, if that’s even a term, where there is a little more gravity given to things than they deserve but it helps to temper the outrageousness of a world of superheroes and costumed villains.
